How to Craft a Story That Connects
Share
I sat down with a client last week. They had an incredible journey—full of challenges, triumphs, and lessons learned. But when it came to telling their story, they didn’t know where to begin.
“Where do I start?” they asked.
“The beginning,” I replied. “But not just any beginning. Start with the moment that changed everything.”
Here’s the truth: every great story has three elements.
1. A Catalyst
This is the spark—the event, realization, or struggle that set you on your path. People connect with vulnerability and authenticity, so don’t shy away from the truth.
2. The Journey
What happened next? What challenges did you face? What did you learn? This is where you show growth, resilience, and purpose. Take your audience along for the ride—they want to see the struggle, not just the victory.
3. The Transformation
How have you changed? What’s the outcome? More importantly, how does your story help others? This is the heart of connection—showing how your experiences can inspire or guide your audience.
I told my client, “Your story doesn’t have to be perfect, but it has to be real. People don’t connect with perfection—they connect with humanity.”
So, where do you begin? Start small. Write down the moments that shaped you. Think about the lessons that only you can share. And then? Share them.
Your story is the bridge to your audience’s trust.
And if you need help crafting it, I’m here.
Let’s tell your story together.
